Small Valley Vineyard, nestled just outside Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills, is a place of wonder - full of life, with rolling contours that wrap around a natural amphitheatre.
When we purchased the vineyard in 2015, the land was in need of care. But beneath it we saw enormous potential - a special site that, with hard work, determination and grit, could be brought back to life.
We are growers first and winemakers second. We believe healthy soils grow happy vines, and happy vines produce fruit that needs little intervention in the winery.
Life in the vineyard translates directly to life in the glass.
That connection to the land also comes with responsibility. The growth rings of a long-passed ancient gum found on the property are a quiet reminder that this landscape was here long before us and will remain long after. We are merely its custodians.
Everything we do at Small Valley is guided by a desire to leave this land in a better state than we found it - nurturing its soils, vines and biodiversity so it can continue to thrive for generations to come.
That is the legacy we are working to leave: a healthier vineyard, a living landscape, and wines that tell the story of this remarkable place.
